Peter’s dream job is to play golf professionally, but alas, he lacks the talent to do so. His back-up dream job is real estate development, and it’s a dream he’s had since he was a teenager attending high school in Tyler, Texas. His friend’s father, a commercial property developer, introduced Peter to his future career through a high school internship.
“A wise man once told me: every job is a sales job. If you are going to sell something, why not sell the biggest thing out there? I love the idea of creating something where there was nothing; developing land that was previously idle, and creating a new ‘place’ vibrant with people and events that wasn’t previously there.”
At KDC, Peter is responsible for sourcing new development opportunities which allows him to be involved in building new communities. “I wake up excited every day because of the projects that we’re developing.”
Peter began his career in 2010 with Lincoln Property Company. The majority of his job involved marketing and 3rd party leasing of 5 million square feet of industrial property, along with developing industrial and office buildings. “Development really excited me, and I knew it was the part of the business I wanted to pursue further.”
In 2015, Peter joined KDC. In his current role, he pursues new business opportunities and establishes relationships with potential corporate clients. He is also a development manager on the 1 Million SF JP Morgan Chase construction project in Plano, Texas. Working on both the prospecting and the project management side has given him well-rounded insight into the entire development process.
At KDC, Peter loves the fact that he has the freedom to think entrepreneurially. He appreciates the company’s horizontal structure, which means that everyone has an opportunity to get involved in KDC’s development projects.
Outside of work, Peter is an adventurous guy. “Traveling with my wife, Bonnie, is my most cherished hobby. We love to explore new places, and have that experience together. We want to go to Iceland, New Zealand, and Thailand.”
Peter is also a strong believer in education. He is a member of the Touchdown Club of Dallas, which raises funds for the Rise School of Dallas. The funds have helped elevate the school and provide support that decreases the cost of tuition. Peter is also a member of the First Tee of Dallas, and the Clayton Dabney Foundation Halo Group.
