“Passionate, people-oriented, and persistent. That’s how Pete Van Amburgh describes himself.
It’s those characteristics that make Pete such a good fit for KDC, which places a priority on relationships. He joined the company in 2017 after working for CBRE Capital Markets’ Investment Sales team.
“KDC gives you the opportunity to act and work in a true entrepreneurial atmosphere,” Pete says. “I love the challenge that atmosphere presents.”
As a development associate at KDC, Pete is responsible for sourcing and identifying new development opportunities in Dallas-Fort Worth and other Texas markets. On a daily basis, he’s diligently building relationships with landowners, industry professionals, and city officials. He’s also focused on identifying prospects and creating great environments for KDC’s clients.
“KDC prides itself on being a ‘corporate homebuilder,’ and I relish being part of creating something that people will be able to utilize and cherish for a long time. I’m proud to be part of a team that focuses on creating the most effective space for clients while keeping the benefit of the surrounding neighborhoods in high priority.”
Pete grew up in the real estate business. “I’ve been told I was in diapers when I first drove the DFW market in search of build-to-suit development sites,” he says, adding that he always wanted to be part of the industry in some way. “Real estate provides the ability to forge new relationships with interesting people who I can learn from every day.”
A native Texan, Pete chose to stay in the Lone Star State for college. He graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a degree in real estate finance and immediately took an analyst position with CBRE, focusing on office investment sales. During his five years with the firm, he was involved in nearly $4 billion worth of transactions.
“At CBRE I was lucky to work on the disposition of several KDC owned assets,” Pete says. “Seeing the process through to completion reinforced my desire to want to be a part of this great team.”
Pete’s analytical skills serve him well at KDC. “Our projects are very time and budget sensitive, and my skillset is accretive to helping clients achieve their goals of completion,” he says.
Community service is important to Pete. He’s a member of the Touchdown Club of Dallas, which benefits the Ashford Rise School of Dallas. He’s also involved in Stewards of the Wild, a young professionals program that supports the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and raises awareness for wildlife conservation around Texas.
In his free time, Pete likes to play golf, hunt birds and spend time with his wife Molly.
