Darlene Hunter
Receptionist

- 24 years of experience
- 2 years at KDC
Darlene Hunter’s life motto is to be kind and respectful to others. “A person may not remember your name, but they will remember how you made them feel,” she points out.
That approach to life makes her an ideal person to serve as KDC’s front desk receptionist. In her role, she greets clients, guests, and team members in a friendly, professional manner and handles all conference room reservations and scheduling. She also ensures that the team never runs out of critical supplies or energy by ordering supplies and keeping the kitchen stocked and organized.
Darlene’s positive attitude, communication skills, and organization skills are the foundational elements that allow her to be successful in her role at KDC. They keep things running smoothly and efficiently at the front desk.
“I’ve always believed there are two things you can control: your attitude and your effort,” she says. “Being positive sets the tone for the office especially at the front desk. You are the first impression when you walk in and over the phone, so why not start the day on a good note!”
Darlene boasts more than 20 years of receptionist experience in a variety of industries. Prior to joining KDC, she worked as a front desk administrator for a Dallas-based accounting firm. She found her way to KDC after a lengthy search for her “work home”.
Through her research and team interviews, she concluded that KDC serves its clients with integrity and transparency, in addition to giving back to the community. “All these things are something I want to be a part of,” Darlene says.
Darlene, who describes herself as positive, fair, and has a good sense of humor, enjoys many aspects of her job, but the one she enjoys the most is the people. “It’s important to enjoy who you work with,” she says. “In most cases, you spend more time with the people you work with than at home.”
As a native Texan, Darlene grew up in South Texas and lived in the Texas Hill Country prior to relocating to North Texas in the 1990s. Her mother advised her to have faith and be thankful by looking back on all the things you’ve made it through and all the great things to come. She follows that advice every day.
Darlene and her husband of 30 years, Greg, reside in Plano and have two sons, Garrett and Bryce. They maintain a strong connection with their adult children through family game nights.
Darlene’s favorite thing to do outside of work is spending time with her family, which makes sense given that she believes the best decision she’s ever made was to start a family. “The love of a family is life’s greatest blessing,” she says.
