CREdible Talk | Episode 3: The Power of Relationships
Gabi Figueroa is very close to her family, and she wanted to work for a company with the same close-knit vibe. She found it at KDC. She joined the company as a Marketing Associate in early 2020 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a minor in Public Health.
“I really wanted to find a position where I would be a good fit from a culture standpoint,” she explains.
Gabi handles all of KDC’s social media marketing and pitches in with the company’s other marketing-related initiatives including digital marketing, branding, and internal communications. She also assists the business development team with proposals and presentations.
“KDC is just the right size for me,” Gabi notes.
I didn’t want to just be a number—and I like being part of a smaller marketing team where I can put my knowledge to use and also get involved in a lot of different projects.
Prior to joining KDC, Gabi worked with a small marketing agency where she focused on social media campaigns and user engagement for a variety of clients including Santa’s Wonderland.
As Gabi takes on new challenges and meets new people, she is reminded of a quote from Bill Nye: “Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don’t.”
“It’s a reminder that I can learn something from everyone I meet, and it pushes me to expand my knowledge,” Gabi says. “I work with people who’ve been at KDC for decades, and I love learning from all of them.”
A native Texan, Gabi was born and raised in Frisco, a suburb of Dallas. She decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and attend Texas A&M. The Aggie spirit was introduced to her early, as she grew up going to A&M football games and participating in Midnight Yell.
Gabi’s close-knit family consists of her mother and father and two younger brothers, one of which plans to attend Texas A&M and another who is a certified EMT Paramedic.
“We’re one of those families that loves to spend time together, talking and joking and discussing new things,” Gabi says.
Gabi also loves music. She sang in the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas for a couple years and improved her technique through voice lessons and vocal showcases. She also enjoys listening to live bands, attending concerts, and participating in music festivals. (Her favorite band is Death Cab for Cutie). When she isn’t listening to music, she’s engrossed in true crime podcasts and true crime television.
Gabi’s dream vacation is eating her way through Japan. “I’m a huge foodie,” she says, “and I’d love to visit Japan with my family and sample all the cuisine.”
