Office Leasing Accelerates Across the U.S.
After living in several U.S. cities along the East Coast, Jeff Marcus identified the Raleigh-Durham region of North Carolina as an ideal place to grow his family and his career. Since 2009, Jeff has contributed to Raleigh-Durham’s tremendous growth by leading large-scale campus redevelopment, urban infill and repositioning projects.
Jeff joined KDC in 2018 as a Development Manager/Design & Construction for the firm’s Raleigh-Durham operations. In this role, he’s responsible for client relations, new business development, and project management.
Building and placemaking are the things that interest me. I have a responsibility and a vested interest in improving the community in which I live. It’s important to make good choices about the built environment so companies can grow and attract great people.
Currently, Jeff oversees KDC’s Credit Suisse project in Research Triangle Park. The redevelopment will transform a typical suburban office building into a vibrant and sustainable corporate campus to attract and retain top talent for the global financial institution. He’s also involved in KDC’s Hub RTP project, a 43-acre multi-use urban district in Research Triangle Park.
“While there are a lot of great local developers in Raleigh-Durham, the market is ripe for a company like KDC to positively shape the community by bringing in new companies,” Jeff says. “KDC is an impressive group with an amazing track record and a strong sense of teamwork.”
Jeff enjoys all facets of the real estate development process, particularly working with a broad spectrum of professionals and building strong, design-focused teams. With his detail-oriented mindset, he is dedicated to achieving shared goals for clients and development partners.
Prior to joining KDC, Jeff served as a Real Estate Manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina for four years. He oversaw capital projects and transactional activities across a portfolio of over 1 million square feet and led a team that implemented the construction and development of the company’s signature Durham Campus, which allowed for the disposition of their iconic headquarters in Chapel Hill.
Jeff began his career with a top general contractor in Washington D.C. He then transitioned in managing privately held real estate development companies in New York City and developing infill sites throughout the Triangle.
Jeff earned a B.S. in Architectural Design from the University of Virginia and a Master’s degree in Construction Management from NYU. “Although I have a deep love for good design, I always knew I wanted to be in the development world,” he says. “And one of the advantages of KDC is that I get to work with top-notch architecture firms.”
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children outdoors, particularly frolicking on North Carolina’s sandy beaches. He also enjoys playing tennis since it’s one of the few sports where you can actually get better with age and experience.
