Building the Future of Recovery for Alcoholic Women, Together

10/07/20 | KDC Announcements

The Magdalen House ended North Texas Giving Day with $71,706 – more than $20,000 over their fundraising goal, given by 350 donors, doubling the participation from 2019. Funds raised are enough to provide 47 alcoholic women with life-saving recovery services through the nonprofit’s Social Detox program. Thanks to a partnership with KDC, donations of $5,471 was raised from the company’s employees, partners, and customers. KDC is also leading the development of the new home for The Magdalen House.

"We are so grateful for our relationship with KDC and their support of North Texas Giving Day. KDC has been by our side every step of the way, including sharing our mission and leading the development of the new home for The Magdalen House at 4513 Gaston Avenue,” said Lisa Kroencke, The Magdalen House executive director. “We look forward to welcoming women to our new home where they will receive much-needed support as they recover from alcoholism."

KDC CEO Steve Van Amburgh and Lisa Kroencke are residents of Highland Park and met through Scott Shuford, a friend of The Magdalen House and co-chair of the agency’s 2019 Leave a Legacy Dinner. Both Kroencke and Van Amburgh have a passion for supporting the local community, and she was familiar with KDC’s leadership role in building a new home for Dallas 24 Hour Club in February 2018. When approached by Kroencke about developing a new home for Magdalen House, Van Amburgh immediately wanted to help with their newly announced Legacy of Hope Capital Campaign.

Van Amburgh and the KDC team, led by Hector Patino and Walt Mountford, have dedicated hundreds of hours to The Magdalen House’s new home on Gaston Avenue by lending their expertise, talent, and industry contacts to ensure a timely and cost-effective building experience for not only The Magdalen House and its clientele, but also for the community of Dallas and the Peak Addition neighborhood as well.

The Magdalen House has plans to relocate to their new home at 4513 Gaston Avenue following their grand opening in early 2021.
