After working in KDC’s accounting department for a dozen years, Mayra Torres was ready for a new adventure. She didn’t want to leave the company though, which had supported her through a lot of difficult life events. Luckily, she found a new position with KDC’s Design & Construction team.

In Mayra’s existing role as Administrative Assistant/Design & Construction, which she took on in 2019, she’s involved with several projects in Dallas. She provides project coordination support to the KDC project management team and regularly works with project managers and handles all team expenses, invoices, and meeting schedules.
Mayra’s previous position as an accountant gave her unique insight into KDC’s business and its projects. In that role, she was responsible for all of the project draws.
“Now, working in the Design & Construction group, I get to see live and in-person all the projects I learned about on paper when I was in accounting,” Mayra notes.
In total, Mayra has 17 years of experience. Before joining KDC, she worked for another well-known commercial real estate developer, Trammell Crow Co. She served as an administrative assistant for the company’s tax, legal, and accounting departments before moving into a cash manager position.
Mayra’s adventures aren’t limited to work, either. She recently got married to her husband, Hector, whom she’s known since she was a child. They have a blended family that includes two teenage daughters and an adult son who plays semi-pro soccer.
Mayra loves spending time with Hector, eating out at their favorite restaurant or going for walks in their neighborhood.
“Sightseeing is not my kind of vacation; lazing on the beach is,” Mayra jokes.
