KDC ADDS SEASONED REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS TO ATLANTA TEAM

Jim George and Robert Maddux to focus on Dunwoody development and State Farm lease

ATLANTA, GA – February 19, 2014 – KDC, one of America’s leading commercial real estate development and investment companies, has expanded its Atlanta operations and hired industry veterans Jim George and Robert Maddux.

George and Maddux will primarily focus on the development of KDC’s recently announced transit-oriented project in Dunwoody, Georgia, which includes State Farm’s lease of 585,000 square feet of office space at the development. KDC’s Larry Wilson will continue to oversee the Atlanta operations, including development and investment opportunities.

“The Dunwoody project and State Farm’s office lease requires an experienced team with excellent planning skills and a proven track record of success,” said Wilson. “I’m confident that Jim and Robert are the right fit for this project and other development opportunities.”

Jim George has been responsible for the design, construction and development of many of Atlanta’s most prestigious projects including Wildwood Office Park in Cobb County, North Point in Alpharetta and Terminus in Buckhead. His work includes office and medical buildings, research facilities, retail shopping centers and large mixed-use developments. George joins KDC following a 30-year career with Cousins Properties. In addition, he had a career of active and reserve service in the United States Navy Civil Engineer Corps., retiring as Captain. George holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Mississippi State University, Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia State University.

Robert Maddux joins KDC from Pope and Land Enterprises, where he was director of design and construction. He has extensive experience in managing large and complex projects. His work history also includes Genoa Construction Company and R.J. Griffin and Company. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Technology/Building Construction and Contracting.

Last Friday, KDC announced plans to develop a transit-oriented development on 17 acres in the Perimeter Center area of Dunwoody, Georgia. State Farm is leasing 585,000 square feet of office space and plans to add additional buildings over the next decade.

The first office building, to be leased by State Farm, will be constructed on a nearly 4-acre site at Hammond Drive and Perimeter Center Parkway and will connect to the Dunwoody MARTA station. KDC plans to begin construction on the first building in summer 2014.

KDC’s Dunwoody development will include 2.2 million square feet of office space, 100,000 square feet of retail, restaurants and entertainment, and a 200-room select service hotel.

KDC’s experience in Atlanta also includes Intellicenter-Atlanta, located at 2530 Sever Road in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The 150,000-square-foot building is LEED Silver Certified and occupied by the University of Georgia’s Gwinnett campus, Liberty Mutual, Airgas, Inc. and ST Microelectronics.

Dallas-based KDC has completed more than 125 corporate build-to-suit office and industrial projects valued at more than $3.5 billion and totaling more than 27 million square feet. Clients include State Farm Insurance, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Citigroup, EDS, FedEx, Fluor Corp., Intuit, Invesco, Nokia, Prudential, Rent-A-Center, Omnicom, Sally Beauty, and other leading corporations.
