150,000-square-foot tower features boutique office space, ground floor retail

DALLAS – Feb. 23, 2016 – KDC, one of America’s leading commercial real estate and investment firms, and McCarthy Building Cos., a Texas builder for nearly 40 years and one of the state’s preeminent contractors, have celebrated the topping out of 1920 McKinney, a 12-story, 150,000-square-foot office building in Uptown Dallas.

Located at 1920 McKinney Avenue at Harwood Street, the Class A office building features six stories of boutique office space on top of a six-story parking structure with 8,500 square feet of ground floor retail and restaurant space.

“The 1920 McKinney project has been a successful collaboration between KDC, McCarthy and the City of Dallas,” said KDC CEO Steve Van Amburgh. “This is a prime location in the Uptown market with walkable access to the many area restaurants and entertainment options, along with the amenities that come with a Class A office tower.”

The tower will feature a ratio of three parking spots for every 1,000 square feet of office space and is located just a block from Klyde Warren Park.

“McCarthy is known for tackling challenging projects – this project has required creativity and hours of planning and scheduling to meet the obstacles of a tight site space and an aggressive timeline,” said McCarthy Texas Region President, Ray Sedey. “The topping out ceremony marks a construction milestone, and is a time to celebrate the team’s accomplishments alongside KDC and our other project partners.”

Construction on 1920 McKinney began in Sept. 2014. BOKA Powell is the project architect, JLL is leasing the office space, and The Retail Connection is responsible for ground floor retail leasing.
