KDC & BALFOUR BEATTY TOP OUT LIBERTY MUTUAL CAMPUS
04/19/17
1.1 million-square-foot regional campus will be home to more than 4,000 employees
PLANO, Texas – (April 19, 2017) – KDC and Balfour Beatty celebrated the topping out of Liberty Mutual Insurance’s new 1.1 million-square-foot regional campus at Legacy West.
“It is a great day when we have more than 750 construction team workers, the City of Plano, and our development partners all together to celebrate a major project milestone,” said Don Mills, executive vice president, KDC. “Everyone here is responsible for creating this great facility, which will be one of the most significant buildings in the Legacy area.”
The $325 million, 19-story campus will offer employee amenities such as a medical center with physical therapy services, full-service cafeteria, gourmet coffee bar, two large conference centers, two rooftop gardens, and over 4,000 covered parking spaces. The complex will be home to more than 4,000 Liberty Mutual employees who are scheduled to begin moving in Dec. 2017.
The eighth floor, also the first office level of the building, almost completely covers the top level of the garage and is nearly 250,000 square feet. This community floor allows employees and visitors to easily maneuver between the garage and two office towers.
The building’s open-floor plan will disburse natural light throughout every level while being 20 percent more energy efficient than the typical modern office. The completed Plano campus will meet LEED Silver requirements and be Liberty Mutual’s eighth LEED-certified building. Each aspect of the design, construction and operation will use sustainable or green resources and materials as well as incorporating energy-efficiency and water-conservation methods.
The Liberty Mutual complex sits at a significant gateway to the Legacy West mixed-use development and offers employees convenient access to shops, restaurants and multi-family housing.
