KDC is proud to have played a role in the revitalization of the Cedar Crest Community Center in South Dallas, a beloved neighborhood facility that has long served as a hub for youth, sports, and community development. Originally built over 50 years ago, the center has now been fully restored through the leadership of local nonprofit Behind Every Door and the support of a remarkable group of donors, including Dallas-area sports figures and members of the commercial real estate industry.
Located on an eight-acre site at 1007 Hutchins Road, the restored property includes a 20,000-square-foot community center, a 4,000-square-foot worship space, and full-size football, baseball, and soccer fields. Surrounded by more than 17,000 residents—1,000 of whom are school-aged children—the center now offers significantly expanded programming and services, from afterschool enrichment and mental health counseling to fitness, worship, and financial services.
Amenities now include a Veritex Bank branch, a Lightpath Health Clinic, a full-size basketball gym donated by the Dallas Mavericks, classrooms, a golf simulator for STEM learning, locker room facilities, and much more. The renovated Cedar Crest Community Center is poised to make a lasting impact on the South Dallas community for generations to come.
